Geoff Brindle understands immigration law better than most. Throughout his long career with the Home Office he has been principally involved in immigration matters and has wide experience of both casework and policy issues.

Geoff Brindle joined the Home Office in 1962 as an Immigration Officer. He later served abroad as Second Secretary (Immigration).

As a Chief Immigration Officer he represented the Home Office before the Immigration Appellate Authority at both adjudicator and tribunal levels.

Most recently he has been involved in matters of immigration policy. He was responsible for the consultation paper on the control of immigration advisers.

He was also responsible for securing the passage through parliament of Part V of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 (Control of Immigration Advisers).

As a member of the interdepartmental group on the review of immigration appeals Geoff Brindle was responsible for the consultation paper on the review of appeals and for the passage through parliament of Part IV of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 (Immigration Appeals).

Geoff Brindle was awarded the OBE for services to the Home Office.
